Every year I look at the mission statement of Dunham Lake Aussies and make sure it still supports our goals which are to raise healthy, sound temperament Australian Terriers for show or companion homes.  2009 has been a wonderful and interesting year in many ways.  In the Aussie world in which we are involved, by our peers, we have been challenged, harrassed, loved, stalked, included, excluded, welcomed, ignored, highly encouraged, commended and supported. Quite the range of experiences! Thankfully, by far our experiences were off the chart positive!

We have decided that our Mission Statement did need some adjusting, what was missing was a small but very powerful word that helps to define us as a a family and as a breeder that word is "integrity".  The word integrity is defined as:

1. possession of firm principles: the quality of possessing and steadfastly adhering to high moral principles or professional standards.

2. completeness: the state of being complete or undivided.

3. wholeness: the state of being sound or undamaged.

We have very high standards for ourselves and our breeding program.  We do not cut corners, breed out of convenience  over breed our females or allow our dog to exercise his desires as a dog.

Over-breeding is not good for any breed.

Everything we do is very managed, controlled and planned.  People we associate with are only those who have the same standards. There are many!

When I look at our new litter I can see the results that come from breeding with integrity. This litter is exceptional.  They are all show prospects and in a few weeks we will know more certain.  All of these puppies are beautiful, healthy and are what we had expected.

By adding this small but significant word to our Mission Statement, we think it tells others what defines our breeding program and why we have been successful in making friends in this breed, showing, breeding and raising healthy, sound Australian Terriers for us and for others.
